College of Engineering, Pune (COEP) is one of the oldest and most reputed colleges in India. It was established in 1854 during the British era.

The college has produced very talented engineers as well as humble people. Some famous people pass out from College of Engineering, Pune were Bharat Ratna M. Visvesvaraya, Rajiv Bajaj, Vijay Kelkar, Lila Poonawala, etc.

College campus consists of two campuses namely North Campus and South Campus.

North Campus comprises of Departments such as the Computer Science Department, Electronics and Telecommunications Department, Mechanical Department, Instrumentation and Control Department, and Applied Science Department. It also comprises of Academic Complex, Boat Club, Boat Club Canteen, Mini Auditorium, Extension Building, Data Center, Mechanical Drawing Hall, and BHAU Institute.

South Campus comprises Departments such as Civil Department, Production Department, Metallurgical Department, Electrical Department, and Planning Department. It also comprises of Central Library, Main building consisting of CoEP MIS Office and Director’s Office, Xerox Store, Main Auditorium, Meta Canteen, Civil Drawing Hall, and SBI Bank college branch.

Both Campuses are divided by road. Both the Campuses are connected by underground pass. Though college is situated near main roads, the whole college campus is covered with the beauty of trees and small plants. Students often seat in the shadow of trees present in the campus area.

The College Hostel has its own characteristics features. The hostel is at walking distance of 10 minutes from the college. Boys and Girls Hostel are divided into blocks. 4 students can live in one room. The senior Girls hostel building is recently made. The college hostel has a drinking water facility on each floor. The cleanliness is maintained in Washrooms. The college primarily focuses on sanitation. College and Hostel are always kept clean. Sanitation workers clean college and hostel every day.

Just opposite to the hostel, the college playground is present. The playground has a change room, Basketball court, Football goalposts. Students can also play cricket, Hockey, Kabaddi, etc. College has its own sports fest called Zest where students can participate in various sports.

Classes for the First year is conducted in Academic Complex while classes for SY, TY, and Final year are conducted in their respective departments. The whole campus is provided with WIFI connectivity. Only College students can avail of this facility. Boat Club Canteen is situated on the banks of the Mula Mutha river. BHAU Institute is a premium institute for studying Entrepreneurship and Innovation.

All notes, stationary material are available in Xerox Center. Meta Canteen is big in area as compared to Boat Club Canteen. Guest lectures and special events are arranged in Main Auditorium or Mini Auditorium. Main Auditorium consists of approx. 600 seats while Mini Auditorium consists of approx. 100 seats. College also has a computer lab consisting of 100 approx. computers.

Admission Process:

Under graduation:

One has to clear MHTCET exams with at least 99 percentile to get branches as per choices. The cut-off for the Computer branch was at least 99.8 percentile for the year 2019. After clearing the exams, online DTE forms are to be filled.

Admission in College of Engineering, Pune is done via DTE through CAP processes. 120 seats are reserved for Computer and Mechanical branch each. 60 seats are reserved for all other branches each. In 2019, admissions were taken through 3 CAP Rounds and One spot Round. To apply for CAP rounds, one has to fill admission forms on mahacet website and upload documents concurrently. Then all the documents uploaded on the website are verified at ARC centres. Then, one has to fill choices for colleges.

COEP Lateral Entry:

The second-year lateral entry is also available in College. One has to fill the online DTE forms after passing out Diploma. If one tops in merit list in their respective branches, he/she may get admission. All the information is given on COEP official website.

Post-Graduation:

The eligibility for taking admission for M-Tech course in College of Engineering, Pune is to clear GATE examination and having a Bachelor’s Degree. M-Tech students get a chance to conduct practicals of FY. This helps them to enhance their knowledge.

PhD:

The eligibility for pursuing a PhD. course in College is to have a Master’s Degree.

Postgraduation Diploma Courses:

College also provides diploma courses after Post-Graduation. The course duration is one year.

CoEP MIS :

CoEP MIS is somewhat called roll numbers of all college students. CoEP MIS is unique for every student irrespective of streams. After taking admission into CoEP, students are provided with COEP MIS username and college mail-id.

CoEP MIS plays a vital role in CoEPians. MIS information is provided by the students to the CoEP MIS Office. Student feedbacks are given on the CoEP MIS portal. Each semester registration is done with the help of MIS. CoEP MIS portal is very useful. CoEPians always have to use CoEP MIS on a daily basis. College Results are displayed on the CoEP MIS portal.

Apart from the CoEP MIS portal, College also has its official website: www.coep.org.in. All important information and news are uploaded on the website. College sends information regarding important events to all students via mail. Important notes regarding the syllabus are uploaded online.

Clubs:

The college has approx. 40-45 clubs in total. From cultural clubs to technology clubs, there is a wide variety of clubs present in college. Students can also join Civil Aspirants Club, Robotics Club, Electric Vehicles The club, Satellite Club, etc.

Students can also opt for Spandan Club which helps the needy people. They can also choose Entrepreneurship Club which helps them to put business ideas into practice.

Events:

Five major events take place every year in college namely Mindspark, Impressions, Zest, Regatta and Annual gathering. Mindspark allows students to witness various technological methods that are being used in the corporate world.

Various companies participate in this event. Impressions event is all related to dancing, singing, and entertainment. The event provides a platform for students to showcase their dancing and singing talent. Students from other Colleges can also take part in Impressions. Zest is all related to sports.

Many students participate in this event. Participation in Zest is more as compared to other Fests. The Regatta is a kind of event which includes Punt Formation, Mashaal Dance, Rowing, etc. Students practice hard for this event. Annual Gathering brings a smile on student’s faces. Students enjoy a lot during this event.

Does CoEP accept JEE Mains scores?

Students can also get admission in CoEP with JEE Mains scores. CoEP has all India quota which allows students to take admission through JEE Mains scores. All India quota is a limited quota. As CoEP is a state college, first preference is given to state students.

Is CoEP a government college?

College of Engineering, Pune CoEP is a state government autonomous college. College is affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University. It is situated in Shivajinagar, Pune. According to NIRF rankings, College of Engineering, Pune CoEP stand 50 in the engineering category.
